Another Reason To Hate The Death Penalty…

My fellow cops often criticize me for my unusual opposition to the death penalty. Unusual because nearly every cop in America champions the notion of that final retribution is a way to achieve crime prevention. I have long ago reached the conclusion that Capitol Punishment is fraught with human error and mischief.

Here’s yet another example of chicanery and derailed justice. Steven L. Manning, a former fellow Chicago cop no less, was framed for Murder and kidnapping with the aid of a bogus jailhouse snitch.

Today, Manning, who was already awarded $6.5 million in damages against the FBI by a jury filed another lawsuit in U.S. DistrictCourt. This time against the Village of Buffalo Grove and two former police officers for their alleged role in the conspiracy to convict him.

Manning in the new lawsuit, is now demanding unspecified damages against former police chief Gary Del Re, officer Robert Quid and the village.

Manning had some serious baggage that landed him a spot as an FBI informant.

This cop was dirty and into lots criminal activity. I wonder who he killed that we don't know about?

I never knew the guy, but I did know a few guys who worked with him years ago in the traffic section. Supposedly he never took a dime when everyone else did, but always had money. One copper I knew said he was a scarey guy and you didn't screw around with him.

Second and third hand information should be taken with a few grains of salt, but all the scuttlebutt I ever heard about him said he was a contract killer. Was he? I do not know. Will we ever?

Kind of interesting to see you refer to yourself as "a fellow cop" and try to represent yourself as one of us. Didsn't you give that up when you signed that PAR form and moved out west to pursue a career as an actor and a PI specializing in criminal defense?

I may have left Chicago and changed direction but I will never forget where I came from.

I will never forget many of the best people I ever knew that wore the uniform.

I will never drive by some one man car making a traffic stop without looking to see if he or she is Okay.

I will always have some kind of regret that I'm not still on the job...

Worked with Confidential and Corrupt Practices Section, IAD, CPD, some 25 years ago. MANNING is/was one of the dirtiest police. Not small time stuff, the hush-hush stuff with lots of connections on and off the Department. Isn't it funny, that when MANNING's star was flashed by a look-out for the BILLS brothers at one of their burglaries at a jewelry store in 012 Dist, nothing ever became of it ??? The Ivory Tower boys put the cabash on the investigation and disbanded the investigative team.

And just look at his most recent federal convictions.
