Spend a day in an American courtroom and experience the look and smell of justice.

If you have never stepped foot inside an American criminal courtroom, you are missing one of the most eye-opening and electrifying experiences you can have.   Actually you can get your fill of true crime in a single day. Forget the marathon of sitting through an entire trial. That is a multi-week slog. I am talking about a preliminary hearing, the fast, concentrated jolt of the justice system where the stakes are high, the drama is real, and the outcome can change a defendant’s life forever. There are only two ways a criminal case heads toward trial. The first is through a grand jury indictment. That is a secret process, no public allowed, not even the defendant’s lawyer. Unless the accused chooses to testify, he will never see the jurors’ faces or hear the evidence directly. It is a closed-door decision that can feel like a mystery. The second way, the one you can witness, is the preliminary hearing. It is like a mini-trial where the prosecutor parades witnesses to the stand, s...

So you want to represent yourself in a felony trial?

Representing yourself in a criminal case is not bravery, it is suicide with paperwork. You are walking into a legal minefield armed with nothing but blind confidence and Google searches. I have watched these self taught courtroom warriors mumble their way through arguments they could have won if they only knew how. It is like watching someone set their own hair on fire in slow motion. Even the worst lawyer in town will keep you alive longer than trying to play attorney in your own felony trial which is the express lane to a prison cell complete with free orange wardrobe and a concrete mattress. As a criminal defense investigator I have recently been thrown into the circus ring with defendants who decided they were too smart for actual lawyers. They have traded seasoned legal counsel for the thrill of playing Perry Mason in their own courtroom disaster. My hands are tied by court rules that forbid me from giving legal advice which is a shame because watching these self appointed genius...

It’s Time to Evict the United Nations From Our Soil and Our Wallets

The United Nations was born in 1945 with lofty promises of peace and diplomacy. Cue the choir music. Nations would supposedly come together, hold hands, and solve the world’s problems like some kind of international therapy session. Fast forward to reality. The UN has become nothing more than a corrupt, bloated, globalist parasite feeding off American taxpayers while openly coddling tyrants, terrorists, and communists. Its true mission? One world government with zero borders, zero freedom, and zero respect for the sovereignty of the United States. Look no further than the Israel and Gaza bloodbath. The UN had every opportunity, every ounce of so-called authority, to send in its useless blue-helmeted cosplay soldiers to ensure food and aid got to civilians. But no. They stood down like obedient lapdogs, refusing to lift a finger. Why? Because Hamas and Iran are their ideological soulmates. The suffering of innocent people is just a political inconvenience to them. And let’s not ignor...

Using immigration to build our military.

Let me begin to say that I am not talking about the millions of illegal aliens that the Democrats victimized by deliberately facilitating their trespassing on our soil.  They must be removed without exception.   I’m talking about illegal aliens who were brought in as children by their parents and have now become law abiding working adults.  I’m talking about immigrants that have learned how to read and write English.  Immigrants that have found employment, married American citizens and have children of their own that are also citizens.  There was a period of time when an illegal alien could actually join the military and earn citizenship. Right now I know of a young man from Mexico that’s been eager to serve.  He has no detectable Spanish accent, he’s got a beautiful young American citizen wife and a baby that is nearly 2 years old.   If exceptions were made for some these lost souls, dragged in by their parents, that would make sense....

Ozempic it’s proving to be the wonder drug of this decade.

The VETERANS administration, Medicare and Medicaid has begun to cover the costs related to providing this and similar drugs.   The government has just announced that Medicaid and Medicare will begin covering these drugs.   This is expensive, but a reduction and other healthcare cost will more than make up for it.   Americans using this drug appropriately will certainly enjoy longer lives.   Ozempic (generic name: semaglutide) is a prescription medication originally developed for Type 2 diabetes, but it’s now become a star player in cardiovascular and kidney disease management and yes, weight loss too. The VA (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs) has begun prescribing it more broadly to veterans at risk for stroke, heart attack, or kidney disease, not just those with diabetes. Here’s the straight scoop: What Ozempic Does Ozempic is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. That’s medical-speak for a drug that: Lowers blood sugar by boosting insulin release Slows digestion, kee...

Is Artificial Intelligence the Beast? A Warning from the Edge of the Digital Abyss

Artificial Intelligence. Is this mankind’s final invention? Is this the beast, prophesied in ancient fears, ready to devour the world not with claws or fire, but with code, data, and logic twisted by human intent? AI is seductive. It promises miracles: curing disease, transforming medicine, solving impossible problems in seconds, and breathing life into images and videos spun from sheer imagination. It’s the magic lamp of the modern age. But what happens when the genie doesn’t grant wishes, but unleashes war? Make no mistake, AI is a weapon. It sits silently like a loaded gun on the table. In the right hands, it can defend, heal, and enlighten. In the wrong ones, it can maim, manipulate, and annihilate. AI doesn’t choose good or evil. You do. But here’s the danger. If you fear it, shun it, or bury your head in superstition, you surrender the battlefield. If you call it the devil and refuse to understand it, then the real devils,  tyrants, terrorists, and technocrats, will wield ...

Uber Lawyer Roy Black dead at 80.

I’m saddened to hear of the death of legendary defense attorney Roy Black of Coral Gables, Florida. Black built a national reputation successfully representing high-profile clients facing serious criminal charges. He rose to fame in 1991 when he successfully defended William Kennedy Smith against rape charges. Not only did the jury acquit Kennedy Smith, but one of the jurors, a striking blonde, later fell in love with Roy and became his wife.   I had the privilege of working with Roy when actor Kelsey Grammer was accused of having sex with a minor in both Yavapai County, Arizona in 1995, and in Somerset County, New Jersey in 1996. I personally uncovered evidence that pointed to a calculated extortion scheme. As a result, a New Jersey grand jury refused to indict Grammer, and Arizona prosecutor Chick Hastings ultimately dropped the case there as well. Roy Black’s passing is a genuine loss to the legal community. He was not just a brilliant tactician, but also a fearless advocate w...
