Even Jessica Chastain Could Not Save This Propaganda Clinker!

Hollywood, CA—The filmmaking business is getting more democratized every day.  The days of only the most powerful studios and talent agencies  producing films are numbered. Cheaper equipment means  more people than ever can make films.  

Alfred Hitchcock was a master of making great films on the cheap.  No special effects, difficult sets or  costumes were used.  Just talented writing and actors made his success.

Some filmmakers enjoy the power of mixing art with political propaganda.  They want to influence the masses rather than entertain them.  That’s exactly what was behind the recent financial film disaster of, MISS SLOAN.

With an estimated $13 million budget, a terrific leading lady (Jessica Chastain) what could possibly go wrong?  The answer is everything!

I’m loving the films finally being produced with female protagonists. When I saw the slick previews I thought this would be something I wanted to see.  However I was spared from seeing this disappointing disinformation package when I found out this was a not so subtile attack on America’s gun rights. 

The previews did not let out even a hint that this was about pushing gun bans that have proven time and again to actually be more dangerous to public safety.  I’m sure not tipping their hand this was a deliberate effort by producers to ambush and brainwash their audience with their tired political message.    

Gun control is a far more complicated idea than most people realize. Gun bans always fail because they only impact the most law-abiding and trustworthy citizens.  The criminals will always continue to obtain and use, gasoline, bombs, knives, clubs, motor vehicles and of course guns.

We all ready know only too well how bans work in America.  The wars on drugs and alcohol never had a meaningful effect on consumption, only the price and staggering corruption.   

The sad truth is that in the gun control Utopias the sheep are unprotected and the wolves reign supreme.  

It serves the investors in this film flop right to have lost their money.  Imposing their will on others camouflaged as art is risky business. 

I don’t fault the actors for this colossal film failure, after all they are paid to perform. I cant wait to see the next film starring Jessica Chastain. 

I simply love this beautiful and kind actress who will move on to thrill us on the big screen for years to come.  

As for the up and coming filmmakers, those that don’t learn from history are bound to repeat it!   

Is There Really a Sudden Fake News Epidemic or has Democracy Finally Come to Journalism?

Los Angeles, CA—The father of broadcast Fake News is Josef Goebbels.  As Adolf Hitler’s Minister of Enlightenment  and Propaganda, he was a pure genius.  Goebbels convinced the entire nation of Germany that what they heard on their newly acquired radios was always absolutely true. 

Goebbels success was not lost on our own CIA, back then called, OSS.  The OSS learned of the amazing power of the radio and soon Franklin Roosevelt was broadcasting propaganda “Fireside Chats” that mesmerized our entire nation binding us together against Germany, Italy and Japan. 

In the last 150 years we had powerful newspapers and soon followed radio and television.  I don’t give a rat’s ass who the news provider may be, they all have their own secret and vested interests that they are selling to the public as news.  

Only the very richest Americans could own newspapers and broadcasting organizations.  We the people were never part of the powerful media.  

Reporters and producers are hired based on the ability to craft news stories but also subject to their employer’s political proclivities.  There were once some Conservative newspapers but they all sold out to the wealthy political Left. 

There are no serious mainstream Conservative news organizations around anymore. Conservatives need not apply for media jobs today unless they can hide their political leanings really well.  

The six corporations that own and operate what we call today, The “Mainstream Media” are Leftist and in editorial lockstep together as one. What they’ve expertly been putting out as news is carefully crafted propaganda.  

Since all the news organizations are in agreement on various issues the public is convinced our media giants must be telling the truth. 

The Mainstream Media honchos all understandably thrive on deals and corruption to make their personal wealth and power grow.  They could care less about their audience/readers or their real needs.  They have very human failings at every level.

It’s been said may times that, “He who controls the information can rule the world.”  Recently that control has now somewhat shifted to, we the people!

Suddenly we have the Internet that can transmit text, pictures and high quality video along with affordable equipment that allows anyone to offer up what they call news!  

Slowly citizen journalists, bloggers and podcasters have cropped up by the thousands! Accordingly the newspapers and news broadcasters began to fail big-time!  Pink slips have rained in everyone of the nation’s Mainstream Media newsrooms. 

Some of the Internet news providers are not so clever or capable of crafting propaganda into their offerings subtilely.  Some are reckless and some are absolute abominations. However, now matter how well you can tell a lie or mislead an audience it’s no less deceitful or evil.  

Lack of experience and education has hampered many Internet journalists who have made somewhat clumsy attempts to sway public opinion.  That too will change as they gain necessary skills. 

Adding to the news mess is Twitter, Facebook and a growing list of places where any troll can put up a somewhat convincing “news” item. The problem is people want to believe some of the crap that is maliciously published and don’t bother to check anything out. 

If that’s not enough confusion there are fact checking websites that have their own political agenda and facts are turned into fiction and vise versa.  The only real way to check facts are to actually interview the newsmakers and require they provide reasonable evidence backing their statements. 

Are we somehow in a worse position now than before the Internet News sources?  No, we are better off because there are trusted bloggers and sincere journalists uncovering lies by government and politicians. Wikileaks, Edward Snowden and Bradley “Chelsea” Manning have been able to expose government tyranny and some really outrageous political intrigue.  

Whistle blowers now have real options that never existed before. Yes, despite the longstanding existence of fake news we are slowly becoming more sophisticated and better informed.  

I think we've seen the last Presidential election where the dying Mainstream Media will be able to maintain any relevance whatsoever.  They shamelessly fawned all over Hillary Clinton and padded the pre-election polls in her favor.  That came for them with a severe price.  

Let me end this with a simple truth, every writer has an agenda and the First Amendment thankfully protects that short of Libelous publishing or broadcasting.  Only the government gets to lie without punishment but at least now we can expose the crap they dish out.  Democracy has finally come to journalism!  

There are lots of qualified people that can gather and report news.  There are more people than ever that can podcast or post video news packages on the Internet.  There is no better time than now to make an Internet news channel of your own.  

Frankly I won’t cry for the losses of our longstanding Mainstream Media fat-cats. They’ve abused their power long enough.  

The Second Amendment Meaning in Simple and Understandable Terms

Unlike the other provisions of our Bill of Rights the Supreme Court did not apply it to the states until very recent times in the Heller and McDonald cases. That previously allowed states to wrongfully regulate or restrict our rights to keep and carry weapons.  The failure to incorporate that right was in my opinion a deliberate effort by gun haters on the court to derail our liberty. Thankfully Heller and McDonald rulings finally rectified that problem.

Our constitutional rights can't be licensed, taxed or otherwise infringed.  They can be regulated only to the extent of people victimizing innocents. Yelling fire in a crowded theater or using a weapon to injure or kill someone unjustifiably are examples of regulation. 

As for weapons the Second amendment was not as some fools want to believe a vehicle for arming the government.  The militia was never the government!  The government already had the power to arm itself. 

The idea of the second amendment was to give the citizens arms parity against a government gone wrong.  That clearly meant current technology state-of-the-art military type weapons.  

Since bearing arms is a right, it cannot be denied to anyone except those who lost that right through due process of law. The right to vote or bear arms is lost in most jurisdictions after a felony conviction.  Mental competency is another factor. 

The laws of registration, licensing or that required fees, taxes or any scheme to ban such as waiting periods, so called assault weapons or magazine capacity restrictions are in strict violation of the rights of all Americans.

This was never somehow a right only to keep and bear ineffective or inferior arms! 

The Second Amendment has been under attack since its inception by those who simply don't like it.  Politicians have gotten away with violating gun rights for well over a century because the courts have previously refused to follow the law.  A part of that blame has been because of legal malpractice by lawyers that were retained to protect their clients rights.  

The biggest lie of all is when those politicians seeking to restrict our rights claim our rights somehow must be balanced against perceived government security needs.  Weapons are definite security needs for individual Americans!  Gun bans really benefit nobody except criminals and rogue politicians! 

The Second Amendment codifies our natural right to defend ourselves and our loved ones.  It means exactly what is says in plain language, "The Rights of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Charlotte, NC-- Rioting thugs beat, rob and strip naked an innocent white man in a parking garage.  When gun rights hating Liberals demand to know why Americans need large capacity magazines for their firearms this is exactly why.  It's unfortunate that some well armed citizen was not there to stop this cold. This was no protest but a racist insurrection by opportunistic and vile thugs. I see this as terrorism and a war crime.

Long Time TV Reporter Sues KTTV-TV FOX 11 In Los Angeles

Former KTTV-TV Investigative Reporter Chris Blatchford

Los Angeles, CA—He came from the Windy City.  He, Chris Blatchford landed in Los Angeles nearly a quarter century ago and became a mainstay of investigative television news reporting at the Local Fox affiliate, KTTV-TV.  He worked under the leadership of former news director Jose Rios for many years.  

In 2011 Rios retired and things began to change but not for the better when Kingsly Smith took over the news director’s job for two somewhat controversial years.  According to Blatchford’s  complaint, Smith attached himself to the stations legal analyst Robin Sax in an affair that apparently brought much more success to Ms. Sax’s career than to the news department.  Within two years Smith was replaced by the recently departed news director, Bill Mondona.

Things did not improve for Blatchford and he was placed on the fast track for apparent forced retirement.  Crappy assignments, a pay cut followed by not so subtle hostility from management.  It culminated with Blatchford getting canned in February of this year at age, 68.  

Accordingly,there are union issues and some tough California labor laws that may give Blatchford some needed protection. We must wait and see how this progresses.  The reality may be that Fox 11 will not want to have more of their soiled laundry on public display and quietly settle with Blatchford for some agreeable secret amount.  

I see this too often in TV news departments especially in recent years.  This may all be much more about economy with shrinking revenue and stations exiling older and higher paid people for inexperienced and less expensive youngsters.  In any event this is the nationwide somewhat ugly trend within news organizations.   

Carney Shegerian of Shegerian & Associates, is the lawyer handling the case and he issued this statement to Crimefile News:  “It’s an honor to represent Chris Blatchford in this clear cut case of age discrimination.  Mr. Blatchford is a legend in his field – hard-working and an inspiration to many of his colleagues. He remains one of the most vital and ethical investigative news journalists working today, as evidenced by his following and the awards he continues to receive for his work.  That he has essentially been ‘put out to pasture’ by Fox because of his age is reprehensible. Employers such as Fox must be made to understand that they simply cannot discriminate against or wrongfully terminate employees – not based on age – not for any reason.”

Second City Cop, a Great Blog Should Grow Into Video Literacy

Chicago, IL--Chicago cops are represented by the FOP as their collective bargaining agent.  They have lost more ground in recent years for their membership.  The city’s politicians have stolen, squandered and otherwise mismanaged Chicago’s revenue for decades creating a public safety funding nightmare.  

Chicago is the current murder capital of the United states and in the last nine months despite gun bans and draconian restrictions over 3,000 people have been shot here.

Nearly a decade ago with bloggers popping up Second City Cop was Born.  The site is hosted allegedly by a cop who has since retired. He or she has remained anonymous avoiding the wrath of angry police bosses and politicians.   

Second city has done well in calling out misguided management, biased police related media stories and corruption.  In many cases SCC has criticized the FOP for lack of leadership or courage in their representation of cops.  In Short SCC has held the city, lapdog media and FOP accountable for their non-stop mis-steps. 

SCC has also condemned the tireless and constant anti-police race baiting from the likes of Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina’s Church. Perhaps someday SCC can take a look into the funding of Pfleger’s activities and his personal enrichment through use or abuse of his donor’s funds. I suspect he can be easily exposed as a professional instigator. 

The SCC site receives tens of thousands of hits every day.  The readers are politicians, reporters, bureaucrats and of course Chicago’s cops.  The real story is found in the massive amount of reasonably screened comments they receive.   Beat cops are free to call attention to to police related issues they find troubling.  

SCC is not monetized through advertising I suspect to protect the host’s privacy.  That’s a shame because SCC would be raking in some real cash as a result.  I’d love to see SCC become video literate and perhaps employ a video journalist/retired cop to put embedded videos on the site.  A picture is worth a thousand words and video does so much more! 

Such a SCC reporter could bring balance to the propaganda some call journalism published and broadcast by local media/bedmates of Chicago’s despicable politicians. 

That video journalist could expose through public court records the criminal past’s and motives behind the career criminals that falsely accuse cops of brutality and other misconduct. That reporter could ask for tips and information from the public that would aid wrongfully accused cops in protecting their careers and pensions. 

Such a video journalist needs real TV news experience along with police training.  That VJ could attend City Council and Police Board meeting giving an inside video view of the shenanigans. I suspect that SCC has laid a great foundation to become a well-financed and best source for news about Chicago’s public safety issues.  

Starting an Internet News Network in your own backyard is really not that difficult a way to earn a living!

Los Angeles, CA—The Internet and today’s video technology has given us the ability to gather and report news with inexpensive equipment and just a little knowhow.  

This could be done with modern prosumer video equipment rather than the elitist stuff costing in the tens of thousands.  News video can even be gathered and edited with a modern iPhone. Of course you want the best quality your budget can handle.  You need watchable video and poor audio is inexcusable. 

The local stations here are fading fast into the Abyss of low viewership, minimal content and vanishing revenue.  Viewers and print news readers everywhere are abandoning the papers and TV news broadcasts for no-nonsense content on the Internet. Those seeking news can search and find news and information without the overpaid news readers and their mindless and often propagandized chit-chat. 

With streaming video a team of video journalists producers with a good assignment desk management team can put together the days news,  for re-playing 24/7.

Sports and weather should be a part of this only if its newsworthy.  Sports and weather sites could be created for those folks that need that at other sites. 

Like all news rooms, the assignment desk personnel monitor government, police and fire department activity.  They keep up with ongoing court cases and the public relations people that shamelessly peddle their self-serving crap for their clients. The assignment desk people decide whether to send reporters out to chase various news stories. 

The reporters will respond to news events like anyone in the news business.  They will gather video of action, interviews and happenings they will edit and package them into stories with time slots they deserve rather then strict time frames.  The key here is great storytelling content. 

If there are still broadcasters around that want to use our content, they can buy it!  

Important events can be live streamed but allowing politicians to drone on and on as is the current practice must end. The vile practice of kissing the government PIO’s asses in hopes of getting information must also end. Reporters making friends with cops out on the street should be encouraged. Frankly, if politicians want face time they can pay us for advertising!  

Reporters must learn or, re-learn how to access public records and find those people that know what’s going on to interview for their packages. 

Advertising and marketing should be handled by a crack traffic department. 

Instead of helicopters, camera drones should be deployed to gather video whereever possible at great savings. 

When the audience wants news, they can get it the way they want it. The content should be packaged by whatever time is necessary, not preset time traditionally set for television. 

There should be an investigative team for long form stories covering the usual extortion, theft, fraud, government mismanagement and the injustice that never stops. 

A news organization that deals exclusively with news does not have the $$$ millstone of broadcasting or paper-printing around it’s neck. 

An upstart website could become the number one local news source if operated correctly.  Do we really need mindless chit-chat in our news content?  Let’s hope our news consumption time is more valuable then most most TV news executives have guessed.
